![]() I'm open to the possibility that there's more to it than that, though. I'm not familiar with the BCC 3d object crash thing, but if the only fix offered by Boris is to upgrade, and they're charging for the upgrade, that seems wrong. Even in that situation not everyone would be forced to upgrade if they didn't need the fix. ![]() As previously announced, new system shipments of Avid Media Composer v4.0, Avid Symphony v4.0, and Avid NewsCutter v8.0 began on September 16, 2009.COme and get it on the download page and the Support Download Center (login and password required). Having to upgrade because the upgrade fixed some problem and you (generic you, not you specifically) need the fix is different. Media Composer 4.0.2 is now available for download. Based on how BCC and MC have worked together in the past, I think the forced concurrent BCC8 upgrade is a one time thing. In your initial point you seemed to be worried about a future where you'd have to upgrade your version of BCC in response to an upgrade to MC, much like we're all going to have to do with MC6/BCC8. ![]() I'm guessing Carl that you weren't one of the users who had MC crashing/hanging when using BCC 3D objects? - a problem that was introduced at some point during 5.x and for which Boris will only release a fix in BCC 7 - this is the reason why one might be compelled to update BCC in the future
